Technical Examples
  1. A device for stopping a moving vehicle is provided. The device consists of a strip containing a plurality of spikes which are attached to a common cable. When a vehicle rolls over the strip, the spikes pierce the vehicle's tire and expand inside the tire, causing the spikes to become securely lodged inside. The forward motion of the vehicle pulls the attached cable forward, causing the cable to entwine the axle of the vehicle's wheel. The spinning of the wheels causes the cable to become taut, which in turn causes the vehicle to skid to a stop.
