  1. A collection device for collecting material during a surgical procedure includes a collection chamber defined by an encompassing wall and having an opening sufficient for permitting collection of the material during the surgical procedure. A wicking material is positioned outside the collection chamber and is in fluid association therewith sufficient to wick fluid from within the collection chamber.
