Technical Examples
  1. A method and apparatus for optimizing write properties of a magnetic head capable of performing read/write functions on a medium including defining the magnetic head as a normal head, a low temperature weak write (WW) head, or a high temperature WW head, and optimizing the write properties using optimal over shoot control (OSC) and write current (WC) according to the defined kind of magnetic head. Accordingly, the magnetic head in a hard disk drive (HDD) can be defined as the normal head, the low temperature WW head, or the high temperature WW head. Since the method uses the optimal OSC and WC values, according to the defined kind of magnetic head, in consideration of writability of the magnetic head and environmental temperature, low temperature or high temperature WW problems are avoided.
