  1. A method of initiating explosive charges ignites an explosive charge by the heat and/or explosion of a laser due to self-destruction or overheating of the laser source, and not by the radiation emitted from the laser. The laser source is assembled and/or embedded within the explosive charge. The laser source melts down or explodes and thereby initiates the explosive.
