A key operated switch that provides enhanced operational characteristics wherein the rotary motion of a key is translated into the actuation of a switch mechanism that rapidly establishes an electrical connection between a source of electrical current and a load. The switch uses a toggle adapted to interact with a standard switching mechanism which reduces the number of components and the cost of the switch.
