  1. A method and system for simulating games of chance using cards are disclosed using a shuffler to shuffle a set of cards and dispensing one or more cards. Current regulations prohibit certain game operators from using certain games such as traditional craps and roulette. By simulating those games with cards, operators can still provide players with games they recognize and thereby develop excitement and new gaming alternatives for their players, as well as draw new players to such games through their familiarity with the indicia on the cards.
  2. Games for at least one player may include at least one game card, each game card including a plurality of letter indicators each indicating a letter and arranged to spell a word, a plurality of letter tokens, each letter token including a letter indicator, a selection device operable to randomly indicate one of a plurality of groups of two or more letter indicators, and a set of rules to play the game. Methods of playing the game may include spelling a word on a selected game card by matching letter tokens to the letter indicators on the game card. Each game card may include a first side and a second side, each side including a word, such that the word on the first side is more difficult to spell than the word on the second side.
  3. Multiple recognition engines (110) provide different interpretations (116) of a word at a given location within a scanned document (108). A word node corresponding to each unique interpretation is stored within a word index (102), with each word node being linked to word nodes of previously and subsequently recognized words.
  4. A system, method and article of manufacture utilize word chunks to enhance word prediction. At least one of selectable words and word chunks are displayed in response to receipt of an input character. Thereafter, a selection of a displayed word or word chunk is received, and in response to receiving selection of a displayed word chunk, selectable words including the selected word chunk are displayed. A word chunk includes a word portion used in the formation of other words and includes a predetermined identifier, identifying it as a word chuck. Thus, the combination of chunking of parts of agglutinated words in combination with letter input activations reduces the overall number of input activations to complete a word, and further reduces the amount of choices to select from at any point during retrieval of the word. Accordingly, for such agglutinating languages such as German, for example, word chunks can be used to speed up word prediction and thereby eliminate unnecessary, time consuming, and sometimes difficult inputting of many individual characters.
