  1. A video system comprises at least one media player, at least one display, wherein the at least one display is capable of receiving a first video signal and a first audio signal corresponding to a first program from the at least one media player, an assembly housing for supporting the at least one media player and the at least one display, and a wireless transmitter on the at least one display for wirelessly transmitting at least one of the first video signal and the first audio signal.
  2. A video signal processing apparatus and a computer system integrated with the video signal processing apparatus are disclosed. The video signal processing apparatus has a tuner, a video processor, a non-interlaced signal processing unit, a microprocessor, and a computer signal converter. In the video signal processing apparatus, the display can be instantly turned on and the video signal can be recorded in the storage media of a computer, and the video signal recorded in the storage media can be displayed on the display. While watching the video signal on the display, a user can execute applications in the computer simultaneously. The video signal processing apparatus further provides picture-in-picture feature by adding another set of tuner and video processor. The video signal processing apparatus can be integrated with a display or a computer, and can also be used as an external-enclosure video signal processing apparatus.
  3. A method and apparatus for synchronizing audio and video portions of a media program signal is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of detecting an audio event in the audio portion of the media program signal, measuring the timing interval from the audio event to a subsequent video synchronization pulse in the video portion of the media program signal, and storing the timing interval in a third portion of the media program signal. The apparatus comprises a voice detector for detecting an audio event in the audio portion of the media program signal, a timer for measuring the timing interval from the audio event to a subsequent video synchronization pulse in the video portion of the media program signal, and a processor for storing the timing interval in a third portion of the media program signal.
  4. A media player coupled to a network contains a processor, non-volatile memory, volatile memory, a driver, and input and output ports. The media player receives a media file over the network that contains an encoded media stream and a universal decoder. The player's processor converts or translates (or otherwise generates) the universal decoder into a player-specific decoder which may differ from the universal decoder. A library of routines stored in the non-volatile memory is used to create the player-specific decoder. The media stream downloaded to the media player may comprise audio, video, or any other desired type of media. In this manner, each media player can generate a decoder that differs, not only from the universal decoder, but may also differ from other media players thereby alleviating the burden on the media source from having to download the encoded media with a decoder specific to the target media player.
  5. A method and system for coordinating media and messaging operations in an information processing system includes the ability for streaming media and messages in an information processing system from a switching mechanism to a plurality of user nodes. The invention receives a plurality of unsynchronized media and messages from said plurality of user nodes in a synchronizer. Instructions of the present invention further control the streaming of media and messages from said switching mechanism to said plurality of user nodes using said synchronizer. Streaming media may include, for example, chat, audio and video elements, video conference transmissions, teleconference transmissions, and combinations of such media elements.
