Technical Examples
  1. A slip covered sofa having removable seat cushions which are separately slip covered by a single bag-like cover into which the seat cushions are inserted and which has excess material extending beyond the cushions, the excess material being and folded under the cushions at each end to hold the material on the upper surface of the cushions taut when the cushions are in place on the sofa.
  2. The presence of a rear-facing infant seat on a motor vehicle seat is reliably and cost-effectively detected based on the buckle state and tension of the seat belt, and the position of the seat belt relative to the seat bight region where the seat bottom and back cushions meet. These seat belt parameters are measured and applied to a predefined decision matrix to detect the presence of a rear-facing infant seat.
  3. A buoyant pool chair supports a swimmer in an upright, semi-reclining or sitting position while the chair is floating in a swimming pool. Interconnected rigid frame members collectively form an open chair frame including a seat frame, left and right arm frames attached to the seat frame, and a back frame pivotally coupled to the seat frame. Buoyant cushions attached to the frame members form a chair seat, a chair back, a left chair arm and a right chair arm. The buoyant cushions include layers of flexible cushion material secured together in overlapping relation, with the frame members being sandwiched between the overlapping layers. A layer of adhesive material bonds the overlapping cushion layers together and forms a water-tight seal around the frame members. A flexible layer of a water-resistant coating material is bonded to external surface portions of the buoyant cushions, forming a continuous, protective layer covering exposed surface portions of the buoyant cushions and sealing the interface between abutting portions of the buoyant cushions.
  4. An articulated seat cushion component for the seat of a vehicle may include a seat cushion component, wherein the seat cushion component is arranged to detach from a seat cushion of the seat and to be positioned between an occupant of the seat and an intruding body structure. The seat cushion component may be arranged to be integral with the seat cushion of a vehicle seat during when the seat cushion component is in an undeployed state. The seat cushion component may be arranged so that when the seat cushion component is deployed the seat cushion component detaches from the seat cushion of the seat of a vehicle and is positioned to protect a vehicle occupant during a side crash.
  5. In the case of a vehicle seat (1), in particular a motor vehicle seat, having a seat cushion (3) and a backrest (4) which are connected movably and/or releasably to the vehicle structure (S), it being possible for the vehicle seat (1) to be transferred from a design position into at least one other position, the backrest (4) is coupled to the vehicle structure (S) by way of at least one link (12, 14), a pivoting movement of the provided links (12, 14) at least in phases predetermining a displacement of the backrest (4) forward, as a result of which the vehicle seat (1) takes up a front use position.
