Technical Examples
  1. A telephone number searching system supporting an automatic telephone connection in which a telephone number is searched for through the internet and automatically dialed, and a method therefor. A web server is connected to a telephone number database for storing multiple predetermined telephone numbers. An information terminal is equipped with a web browser which is selectively connected to the web server for submitting a search request to receive a telephone number service and searching a telephone number from the telephone number database to display at least one searched telephone number. One number is selected by a user among the displayed telephone numbers and dialed automatically by a telephone plug-in to set up a communication channel through the telephone.
  2. According to one embodiment of the invention, a cellular telephone includes a memory and a transmitter. The memory is adapted to store a telephone number associated with an incoming telephone call, and the transmitter is adapted to transmit the telephone number to another telephone. The cellular telephone may also include a receiver and a calling unit. The receiver is adapted to receive a different telephone number from the another telephone, and the calling unit is adapted to place an outgoing telephone call to the different telephone number. In an alternative embodiment, a method of placing a telephone call from a telephone includes the steps of receiving, over a wireless link, call related information from another telephone, and placing an outgoing call based on the call related information. The other telephone may be a cellular telephone, and the call related information may include a telephone number associated with a telephone call previously received by the other telephone.
  3. A system (100) for automatically redialing a telephone number includes a first telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132) operable to initiate a call to the telephone number and operable to transmit the telephone number and a second telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132, 302) operable to initiate telephone calls and operable to receive the telephone number transmitted by the first telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132, 302). A memory unit (162, 182, 306, 312), disposed within the second telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132, 302), is operable to store the telephone number transmitted by the first telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132, 302). A redial module, disposed within the second telephone component (104, 106, 108, 132, 302), is operable to retrieve the telephone number from the memory unit (162, 182, 306, 312) and operable to automatically initiate a call to the retrieved telephone number.
  4. The present invention provides an echo reduction apparatus, system, and method that advantageously reduces echo when communicating over packet-switched networks. An echo reduction apparatus, including echo reduction circuit, operably couples a headset or handset device to an audio source that is capable of transmitting a sound signal. The echo reduction circuit receives the sound signal from the audio source and a transmit signal from the headset or handset device and provides an adjusted sound signal to the audio source. Advantageously, a variety of headsets and handsets may be used in accordance with the present invention with reduced caller echo and without the need to purchase new headsets or handsets.
  5. Headsets are used in variety of applications to facilitate one- or two-way audio communications between users and/or devices. The present inventor recognized that conventional headsets lack means for successfully integrating more than one audio source, despite their use in proximity to multiple sources of audio signals, such as cell phones, laptops, aircraft radios, and so forth. Accordingly, the present inventors devised one or more devices, circuits, and methods related to connection of at least two audio input signals to a headset. For example, in one embodiment, an active-noise-reduction (ANR) headset includes at least one auxiliary port for connection to an output of at least one device, such as a personal communications, computing, and/or entertainment device. This exemplary headset also includes a primary port for connection to a two-radio or public-address system and circuitry for automatically suppressing or muting the volume of an auxiliary input signal relative to that of a primary input signal.
