Technical Examples
- Methods and systems for providing wide-band voice service via a telecommunications switch are described herein. A call can be initiated from a wide-band telecommunications device (e.g., an IP telephone) to another telecommunications device through a gateway (e.g., an IP gateway) associated with one or more telecommunications networks, such as, for example, a WAN, LAN and/or PSTN. One or more digital signals (e.g., 4 or fewer DS0s) can then be reserved for the call, if a telecommunications switch (e.g., a class 5 circuit switch, 5ESSĀ®, etc.) associated with one or more of the telecommunications networks determines that at least one timeslot is available to permit a transfer of the call to the other telecommunications device. Thereafter, a wide-band signal converted from the digital signal carrying the call from the gateway to the other telecommunications device can be passed over a telecommunications interface, such as a GR-303 connection, as determined by the telecommunications switch to the other telecommunications device.
- Application services gateways that execute electronic application programs/services allows the application programs/services to be managed and administered out of a network rather than locally. The application services gateways are elements in a services delivery system that execute application programs/services that control or otherwise interact with systems and devices of a home or business such as a heating and cooling system or a security system. The application services gateways have a LAN connection to a communication gateway that in turn communicates over a WAN to a remote services gateway. The remote services gateway channels data from a remote service platform to provide application programs/services and management services over the WAN to the communications gateway where it is then channeled to the application services gateways. The installation and management of the application programs/services residing and/or being executed at the local site on the application services gateways relieves the consumer of such responsibilities.
- A system and method for processing orders for telecommunication services received by a telecommunication services provider include receiving an electronic message in a first predefined format from a telecommunications customer, automatically processing the electronic message to identify information related to a telecommunications service offered by the telecommunications services provider, and automatically generating an order for the telecommunication service based on the information so as to reduce manual intervention. In one embodiment, the system and method automatically generate an order by separating information related to each telecommunication service from the electronic message and translating the first predetermined format into a second predetermined format to facilitate further processing by the telecommunications services provider. Information relative to the order is generated by the services provider and converted to the first format before being forwarded to the customer. The telecommunications services provider may communicate with the telecommunications customers using a TCP/IP connection.
