- In a rotary anode type X-ray tube, a rotary anode and a rotary structure supporting the anode are arranged within the vacuum envelope. A stationary shaft has a middle section which is fitted into a cylindrical portion of the rotary structure, and a dynamic pressure type radial bearing is arranged between the cylindrical portion and the middle section. The stationary shaft also has a first section between one end of the middle section and one end of the stationary shaft, and a second section between the other end of the middle section and the other end of the stationary shaft, which are fixed to the vacuum envelope. A transverse stiffness of the second section is set to be larger than a transverse stiffness of the first section, and a center of gravity is positioned in the middle section.
- This invention relates to a system and method for valuing a portfolio in terms of its performance relative to a specified benchmark under a range of future scenarios. In particular, the invention takes a portfolio and calculates two values related to the portfolio: the first value corresponding to an amount by which the value of the portfolio is expected to fall below the value of a benchmark over a given time horizon, and a second value corresponding to an amount by which the value of the portfolio is expected to exceed the value of a benchmark over a given time horizon, in view of the range of different future scenarios. The invention provides a means for determining the portfolio which optimally trades-off these two values, and to evaluate risk/reward performance measures using these two values which can be used to rank instruments, securities or portfolios. The invention also provides a means for pricing portfolio insurance for optimal portfolios.
- A micro-fabricated chip having a stationary structure and a movable structure with a gimbal structure allows pitch and roll motion of the movable structure with respect to the stationary structure. One embodiment of the gimbal structure includes a dimple surface making a rolling-type contact with the stationary structure, and a center bar and a plurality of bar members. An alternative embodiment of the gimbal structure includes a plurality of torsion bar members. Another alternative embodiment of the gimbal structure includes a plurality of flexible members. The micro-fabricated chip can be a passive chip structure or, alternatively, a microactuator having a movable structure that moves in a rotational direction or a translational direction with respect to the stationary structure.
- The present invention is directed to a container for wetted wipes, comprising a container body with at least one opening, a stationary cover being fitted on, or integrated to said container body, said stationary cover comprising at least one dispensing opening through which the container contents is removed, a movable lid which is movably attached to said stationary cover, or is an integral movable part of the stationary cover, so as to reversibly close said dispensing opening, the container being characterized in that a gas-proof means is located between said stationary cover and said movable lid, for providing a gas-tight barrier between the inside and the outside of the container when the movable lid is in the closed position.
- Wheel bearing comprising a rotating part and a stationary flange, and rolling contact elements arranged between them. A brake caliper is supported on the stationary flange. At least one sensor is arranged on the stationary flange. The sensor measures the braking force by measuring the change in length in the material of the stationary flange in the flow of force between first fastening openings for receiving the brake caliper and a form-locking connecting element for connecting to a wheel carrier.
