- The present invention is intended to display page space layout images substantially similar to the page space images of actual newspapers and magazines and, on the basis of these images, display news items having legible character size. Display blocks for displaying images based on the electronic information having the image information of a page space having a plurality of news items and the news-item contents information associated with each news item and operation means such as a jog lever are arranged. Page space images of a newspaper for example are displayed on these display block and news-item markers corresponding to news items are displayed. When the news-item marker corresponding to a desired news item is selected, an image of the news-item contents information associated with the news-item indicated by the displayed news-item marker is displayed on the display block.
- A sound focus speaker adopting a gas-filled sound lens enhances efficiency of transferring sound from a source to target area and of protecting a spread of transferred sound. The sound focus speaker includes a gas-filled sound lens, sound sources for generating sound and a sound-absorption room for surrounding the sound lens and the sound sources. Sound emitted from the sound focus speaker is focused at specific distance to make a focus point and not spread to the outer of the focus point from forming a sound area.
- An abnormal sound evaluation system according to this invention includes a sound recording device for recording a sound generated from equipment at a location adjacent the equipment, and an abnormal sound evaluation device for evaluating the sound recorded, wherein: the sound recording device includes sound data conversion means for converting the recorded sound into digital sound data, and sound data output means for outputting the digital sound data thus converted for the abnormal sound evaluation device; and the abnormal sound evaluation device includes sound data input means for receiving the digital sound data, and abnormal sound evaluation means for evaluating the sound as to abnormality based on the digital sound data inputted and outputting a conclusion of the evaluation including abnormality information about the equipment.
- A sound-amplification apparatus comprises: an acoustic signal source for outputting an acoustic signal; an amplified sound source for receiving the acoustic signal from the acoustic signal source and radiating an amplified sound; a control sound source provided in a vicinity of the amplified sound source for radiating a control sound; and signal processing means for producing a control sound signal by controlling at least one of an amplitude and a phase of the acoustic signal from the acoustic signal source so that an acoustic space having a desired directionality is formed by interference between the amplified sound and the control sound, and providing the control sound signal to the control sound source.
- A method of controlling at least one device by incidental sound produced by a living creature and including: attaching a sound-maker to a living creature so that the natural movements of the living creature will cause the sound-maker to emit a sound; receiving the sound by at least one device; and responding by some physical response to the sound, by the at least one device.
