Technical Examples
  1. A stone cutting system and method for cutting a stone sheet having a substantially planar surface utilizes a frame upon which a stone sheet to be cut can be positioned, a motor for supporting a cutting tool adjacent the stone sheet and for rotating the cutting tool, and an articulated arm assembly enabling the cutting tool to be moved to any of a number of coordinate positions across the surface of the stone sheet. By rotating and moving the cutting tool in cutting engagement with the stone sheet, material is removed from the stone sheet by the cutting tool.
  2. A disposable cutting sheet for cutting and preparation of food items thereon includes a first cut resistant layer having an absorbent ply and a thermoplastic ply, wherein the thermoplastic ply includes a plurality of apertures therethrough. The sheet further includes a second liquid impervious layer including an absosrbent ply and a thermoplastic ply, wherein the absorbent ply of the second layer is disposed below and secured to the absorbent ply of the first layer. The cutting sheet further includes a score line disposed across the substrate for separating the cutting sheet into two portions, wherein the score line extends fully through the cutting sheet near edges of the cutting sheet to create a tear notch. The score line extends through the thermoplastic ply of the cut resistant layer in an area of the cutting sheet between the edges thereof. In addition, portions of the absorbent and thermoplastic plies of the second layer extend beyond a surface area of the cut resistant layer to form a border completely surrounding the cut resistant layer.
  3. A sheet package producing system for producing a sheet package having a predetermined number of sheets or X-ray films is provided. A cutting/stacking device forms the sheets by cutting continuous sheet at a regular length, and for stacking the sheets in the predetermined number. A covered sheet stack producing device inserts the stacked sheets into a protective cover, to obtain a covered sheet stack. A packaging device packages the covered sheet stack to obtain the sheet package. The cutting/stacking device, the covered sheet stack producing device and the packaging device are connected in series with one another. Those devices are balanced in line capacity balance relative to one another. In a preferred embodiment, the cutting/stacking device includes a supply module for feeding the continuous sheet. A cutter module cuts the continuous sheet to obtain the sheets. A stacker module stacks the sheets in the predetermined number.
  4. In a system for cutting glass sheets into shapes there is at least one cutting site (A, B). In order to align the glass sheet which is to be cut or the glass sheet shape into a defined position, on the edge of the tables I and II there are contact edges (21, 44, 45). In order to move the glass sheets and the glass sheet shapes into contact with the contact edges (21, 44, 45) the tables I, II are aligned sloping down toward the contact edges (21, 44, 45) so that the glass sheets and glass sheet shapes slide on air cushions produced between the glass sheets or glass sheet shapes and the tables (I, II) in contact with the contact edges (21, 44, 45). The glass sheets or glass sheet shapes which adjoin the contact edges (21, 45) are coupled by force-fit to the conveyor belts (20) which are provided in the area of the contact edges (21, 45) and then moved to the cutting site (A, B) which is located following the table (I, II). When there are two cutting sites (A, B) the table (11) can be inclined between the two cutting sites (A, B) such that the intersection point which is used as the reference point (43) between the two contact edges (44, 45) is the lowest point of the table (II).
  5. Woodworking machines including cutting tools and motors adapted to drive the cutting tools are disclosed. The machines also include a detection system adapted to detect a dangerous condition between the cutting tool and a person, and a reaction system adapted to perform a specified action upon detection of the dangerous condition. The machines further include a control system adapted to test the operability of at least a portion of the detection system and/or the reaction system. The control system is adapted to disable the motor if the tested portion is inoperable. The control system also includes a test mode to test whether the detection system is working, to test whether various materials would be detected by the detection system, and/or to test whether various materials would trigger the reaction system.
