Technical Examples
  1. A system and method providing capability expansion in a teleconferencing environment. One or more accessories are invoked and arranged in an accessory stack associated with an application. The accessory stack is positioned logically between a teleconferencing application and a conference component in both a local and a remote end point. Each accessory provides at least one additional capability to the system independent of the application and the conference component.
  2. A robotic system that includes a remote controlled robot with at least five degrees of freedom and a teleconferencing function. The robot may include a camera, a monitor and a holonomic platform all attached to a robot housing. The robot may be controlled by a remote control station that also has a camera and a monitor. The remote control station may be linked to a base station that is wirelessly coupled to the robot. The cameras and monitors allow a care giver at the remote location to monitor and care for a patient through the robot. The holonomic platform provides three degrees of freedom to allow the robot to move about a home or facility to locate and/or follow a patient. The robot also has mechanisms to provide at least two degrees of freedom for the camera.
  3. An anti-theft device for a motorcycle having an associated remote control, prevents accidental misplacement or accidental confinement of the remote control in a locked storage box on the motorcycle. The anti-theft device includes a main switch and a remote control holder integrated with a handlebar locking module. When an unlocking signal is transmitted from the remote control, the locking of a handlebar may be released by a handlebar locking actuator only when the remote control is inserted into the remote control holder, thereby actuating a main relay driving circuit so that power is supplied to electric equipment and the motorcycle's engine can be started.
  4. A remote controller, a remote controlled electronic device, a remote control system for an electronic device and a remote control method for an electronic device are provided. The remote controller outputs a control code corresponding to a device ID, a device ID setting/change command and an operation command with respect to one or more electronic devices input from a user. The electronic device receives the device ID and/or control code from the remote controller and stores the received device ID. A control unit of the electronic device determines whether to operate in response to a control code received from the remote controller by checking whether the received device ID matches with the stored device ID. An output unit of the electronic device displays the device ID and/or a function in operation.
  5. A remote control system which can reliably provide desired control while saving power. A remote control apparatus is capable of carrying out two-way wireless communication with an apparatus to be controlled. A control signal corresponding to a key switch for remote control is repeatedly transmitted while the key switch is being operated. Repeated transmission of the control signal is inhibited in accordance with reception of a predetermined signal from the apparatus to be controlled.
