Technical Examples
  1. Music is blanket transmitted (for example, via satellite downlink transmission) to each customer's user station where selected music files are recorded. Customers preselect from a list of available music in advance using an interactive screen selector, and pay only for music that they choose to playback for their enjoyment. An antipiracy "ID tag" is woven into the recorded music so that any illegal copies therefrom may be traced to the purchase transaction. Music is transmitted on a fixed schedule or through an active scheduling process that monitors music requests from all or a subset of satellite receivers and adjust scheduling according to demand for various CD's. Receivers store selections that are likely to be preferred by a specific customer. In those instances where weather conditions, motion of atmospheric layers or dish obstructions result in data loss, the system downloads the next transmission of the requested CD and uses both transmissions to produce a "good copy". In conjunction with the blanket transmission of more popular music, an automated CD manufacturing facility may be provided to manufacture CD's that are not frequently requested and distribute them by ground transportation.
  2. An information storage medium has a first playback unit (music number or tune) for playing back the audio information and a second playback unit (AOB) being more fine than the first playback unit (music number), and one or more pieces of management information (AOBI) each pertaining to the second playback unit (AOB) are recorded in a line (arrangement sequence of AOBI# in music #). Display mode information indicating the display method (display order/display sequence, display timing) of image information (IMG_xx.IOB) is described in management information (AOBI# in music #) recorded at the head position in the first playback unit (music number) of this management information (AOBI).
  3. A television and music distribution system is provided. Music programs are distributed over a number of analog and digital music channels to a number of users for playing by their user music equipment. Music information on the music program currently broadcasted on the music channels is provided in an in-band data stream on the channels. The user music equipment includes two tuners for providing users with the ability to listen to the music program on one channel while viewing the music information on another.
  4. The present invention provides a music search system for conducting music search, which allows the user to easily listen to music matched to situation. The music search system includes a music data storage section, a location acquisition section, a parameter converting section, a music search section, and a reproducing section. The music data storage section stores a plurality of pieces of music data so as to be associated with a corresponding one of music parameters. The location acquisition section acquires a situation parameter. The parameter converting section converts the situation parameter acquired by the location acquisition section into the music parameter. The music search section uses the music parameter resulted from conversion by the parameter converting section to search through the plurality of pieces of music data stored in the music storage section and selects a piece of music to be reproduced. The reproducing section reproduces the piece of music selected by the music search section.
  5. The present invention provides an information recording medium in which at least one set of an audio data portion and a music block, which represent a piece of music, is recorded. The audio data portion includes first audio data. The music block includes first music reproduction information associated with the first audio data so as to manage reproduction of the first audio data. The first music reproduction information includes a first block type which indicates that the first audio data is audio data for a first use.
