  1. Methods are provided for determining the presence of cracks in razor blades during manufacturing. The methods may include, for example, providing a plurality of razor blades in a stack, inducing a current in the stack, and measuring a parameter that is related to the current and indicative of the presence or absence of cracks in the razor blades.
  2. A safety razor with a plurality of blades comprising a head provided with a plurality of vertically adjacent blades, which do not wholly overlap one another, and blade support parts supporting the respective blades apart from one another in order to retain the respective blades at spaces, and wherein non-overlapping portions, which do not overlap one another, are formed on supported portions of the respective blades and the blade support parts are held to the non-overlapping portions of the blades to support the blades. A support structure can be divided into two members to be manufactured and mechanically assembled, metal molds are not so much complicated, and mechanical assembly of blades is made possible to prevent degradation in yield.
  3. A multiple blade razor cartridge is provided having a plurality of support members each having a plurality of blade seats spaced apart from one another and disposed along the support member. Each of the blade seats is separated from the next successive blade seat by a flexible hinge. A retaining member connects the support members such that the support members are spaced apart and approximately parallel to each other so that each of the blade seats is approximately aligned with a corresponding blade seat on the next successive support member, forming rows of approximately aligned blade seats. A razor blade is fixed to each row of blade seats. The hinges and thereby the support members are deformable in response to an externally applied force such that a relative angle between successive razor blades is variable. A razor assembly including a cartridge as described above coupled to a handle is provided.
  4. A storage device for a shaving razor replacement cartridge package, including a base member having at least one package-receiving storage region, and one or more covered packages that are each located in a respective storage region. The covered package contains a shaving cartridge including a plastic housing and a plurality of blades. The storage region preferably provides a retention force, e.g., by opposed members, to retain a respective package within the compartment with a retention force. The retention force is preferably determined so that is less than an opening force needed to initiate opening of a removable cover seated on the stored package. The storage device can include shaving razor engagement structure for carrying a razor generally aligned with the base member.
  5. A shaving assembly for simultaneously applying a shaving preparation and removing hair in a single step includes a base having an upper end, a lower end and a hollow space between the upper and lower ends, whereby the hollow space defines an opening at the upper end of the base. The shaving assembly includes a receiver for a razor, such as a cartridge receiver for a razor blade cartridge, that is connected with the base and that is disposed at the opening at the upper end of the base. The cartridge receiver has a perimeter and the opening at the upper end of the base completely surrounds the perimeter of the cartridge receiver. The hollow space of the base is adapted for containing a shaving preparation, such as a soap cake, a liquid soap, shaving cream or a body wash and may be combined with skin beneficial ingredients and/or scent. In one embodiment, the body of the shaving assembly includes an adjusting element so that an adequate supply of the shaving preparation may be supplied completely around the perimeter of the cartridge receiver. In other embodiments, the shaving assembly includes a resilient element for urging the shaving preparation toward the upper end of the body. The cartridge receiver may also be movable for changing the position of the razor blade relative to the shaving preparation. The shaving assembly may also include a razor embedded in a mass of shaving preparation so that the cutting blades of the razor lie in substantially the same plane as the top surface of the shaving preparation.
