Technical Examples
  1. A probe card includes a flexible membrane, a plurality of probes attached to the flexible membrane, and a layer of foam connected to the flexible membrane so that when the probes are moved into the flexible membrane, the layer of foam is also deflected to produce a counteracting force at the probes. A plurality of push rods are used to transfer the force at the contacts to the foam layer. The foam layer is attached to a rigid plate or push plate. A guide plate includes openings through which the push rods pass. The guide plate supports the push rods along their length and reduces the spacing between the push rods at the flexible member when compared to the spacing of the push rods at the foam layer.
  2. A delivery system for delivering and mounting a cardiac harness on a heart including an elongate body having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The body includes a cavity sized to contain the cardiac harness in a compacted configuration and also includes a plurality of elongate push rods movable with respect to the body. The cardiac harness is releasably connected to the push rods such that, advancement of the push rods in a distal direction moves the cardiac harness from a compacted configuration, within the cavity, to an expanded configuration, outside the cavity. The push rods are configured to have varying stiffness along their length to provide sufficient flexibility to bend up to 90° to advance the cardiac harness onto the heart.
  3. An apparatus for determining a planarity of a first structure configured to hold a probing device to the planarity of a second structure configured to hold a device to be probed is disclosed. In one example of the apparatus, a plurality of moveable push rods are disposed in a substrate, which is attached to the first structure. In initial non-displaced positions, the push rods correspond to a planarity of the first structure. The second structure is then brought into contact with the push rods, displacing the push rods into second positions that correspond to a planarity of the second structure. In another example of the apparatus, beams of light are reflected off of reflectors disposed on the first structure and onto sensors disposed on the second structure. The locations of the reflected beams on the sensors are noted and used to determine the planarity of the first structure with respect to the second structure.
  4. The apparatus includes and elongate body having a proximal portion and a distal portion. The body includes a cavity sized to contain a cardiac harness in a compacted configuration and also includes a plurality of elongate push rods movable with respect to the body. The cardiac harness is releasably connected to each of the push rods such that advancement of the push rods in a distal direction moves the harness from a compacted configuration, within the cavity, to an expanded configuration, outside the cavity. The apparatus also includes a releasing member for releasing the connections between the push rods and the harness upon actuation of the releasing member by a user.
  5. A stroller frame is foldable in two dimensions, and includes front and rear rods, a stretcher interconnecting and pivoted to the rear rods, a locking mechanism for retaining the stretcher at a folded position, a pair of seat rods, each of which is pivoted to an adjacent pair of the front and rear rods, and a pair of crossed linking rods, each of which is pivoted diagonally to a respective one of the front rods and a respective one of the seat rods.
