- A system and a method for automatically routing calls made to an unavailable number to a directory assistance service for further assistance are disclosed herein. An intercept system intercepts these erroneous calls and automatically routes them to a directory assistance service. The directory assistance service then can inform the caller of the unavailable status of the telephone number the caller is attempting to dial. Likewise, the directory assistance service can provide any additional information associated with the unavailable subscriber associated with the unavailable number, such as alternate numbers. The directory assistance service also can provide information regarding other subscribers having similar characteristics to the unavailable subscriber that the caller is attempting to reach. Additionally, the directory assistance service can be adapted to provide general or targeted advertisements to the caller before, during, and/or after providing directory assistance to the caller.

- Methods, systems, and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are disclosed which provide ATM currency conversion capabilities. In one embodiment, a financial account number associated with a financial account maintained by a customer at a financial institution is received, a foreign currency type associated with the financial account is determined, and a choice is presented to the customer at the ATM to conduct a financial transaction in the foreign currency type. A currency selection is received from the customer and at least a portion of the financial transaction is conducted at the ATM in the selected currency.
- A method is provided for displaying the status of a financial indicator using a geographic orientation, where the financial indicator represents financial activity in a particular geographic region. Under the method, a map is displayed that includes the geographic region. Then, a visual indicator that represents the status of the financial indicator is displayed on the geographic region included in the map that is associated with the financial indicator.

The interface comprise a toolbar; a menu for presenting one of an application menu and a market data function menu; and at least one view window for presenting information from at least one of an application and a market data function. Also provided is a network based financial service system comprising a client computer having Internet access; a browser interface operable on the client computer, the browser interface having a toolbar, a menu for presenting one of an application menu and a market data function menu, and at least one view window for presenting information from at least one of a financial application and a market data function; and a server having access to a plurality of applications and a plurality of market data functions, the applications and functions being accessible from the browser interface of the Internet access. The interface and system provides timely, proactive financial advice. Users are afforded the opportunity to set and achieve investment goals based on real-time financial data and the ability to access financial applications.
