- An architecture and method for permitting internet telephones assigned to a common telephone number but each having a unique IP address to be used in the manner of telephones and extension telephones in PSTN. A calling agent is provided with the fully defined address of two or more telephony devices. Telephone traffic to or from either of these devices is directed to a call agent, which contacts a gateway, which rings one or both of the telephony devices. This gateway then forms a bridge with a secondary gateway, to which are attached the other telephony devices that are to act as extensions of the first, and combines the audio from both so that they appear to the consumer to act like conventional PSTN extension telephones. This architecture can be used with any Internet Protocol telephony device, including video telephones.
- A system and method of automatically transferring a call between telephones based on the distance between the two telephones is provided. First the proximity of a first telephone to a second telephone is determined. If the proximity is within a predetermined limit or threshold, calls directed to the first telephone are transferred to the second telephone. Security of the transfer may be ensured to prevent fraudulent use of the subscription of either telephone. Procedures are provided which permit any the above-mentioned steps to be performed either at the level of the individual telephones involved in the transfer, or by an element of the network, such as an MSC or HLR.
- A system for detecting hazardous agents is based on cellular telephone networks. The cellular telephones in public circulation have at least one detector for detecting at least one hazardous agent and broadcast alarm packets upon detecting the hazardous agent. A computer or computer network interconnected with telephones by the cellular telephone network processes the alarm packets and sets an alarm condition for the hazardous agent in a vicinity of the cellular telephone by calculations based upon alarm packets from other telephones with detectors for the hazardous agent in the vicinity. A map of the contaminated area is also created.
- An improved pivotal hinge mechanism used for portable computer equipped with a stopper device which when portable computer and a docking station are joined together shall be actuated by the docking station to prevent the LCD of the portable computer from rotating in left and right direction, so that the collision happened between the docking station and the LCD of the portable computer due to rotation of the LCD relative to the computer mainframe shall be avoided; when the portable computer is disconnected from the docking station said stopper device shall immediately return to the normal position so that the LCD of the portable computer can rotate again in an angle of 0-180 degrees in left and right direction with respect to the computer mainframe.
- A portable telephone maintenance service system and maintenance service method for backup control of a portable telephone set, to make it possible to prevent misuse by third persons and to perform data restoration service. A maintenance service center is connected to an exchange network and by a backup control request, that includes the portable telephone number and a code number from the person who lost the portable telephone set, dialing is done from the maintenance service center to the lost portable telephone set. Memory dial data, mail address data, and other data from the memory of the portable telephone set is saved to backup memory and the data in the memory of the portable telephone set is erased. Upon a backup control request when the portable telephone set is recovered, data is downloaded from the backup memory to the memory of the portable telephone set.
