- A portable telephone maintenance service system and maintenance service method for backup control of a portable telephone set, to make it possible to prevent misuse by third persons and to perform data restoration service. A maintenance service center is connected to an exchange network and by a backup control request, that includes the portable telephone number and a code number from the person who lost the portable telephone set, dialing is done from the maintenance service center to the lost portable telephone set. Memory dial data, mail address data, and other data from the memory of the portable telephone set is saved to backup memory and the data in the memory of the portable telephone set is erased. Upon a backup control request when the portable telephone set is recovered, data is downloaded from the backup memory to the memory of the portable telephone set.
- A mobile telephone switching network 3, a server 5, and a terminal equipment 7 are connected to a network 4. A portable telephone set 2 manufactured by a manufacturer 1 is connected to the mobile telephone switching network 3. Not only a service application fabricated by an application maker 6 but also a key application determining a key layout based on API published by the manufacturer 1 are uploaded to the server 5. The service and the key applications are downloaded to the portable telephone set 2 in response to a requirement from the portable telephone set 2. In the portable telephone set 2, the service application is analyzed by using the key application downloaded as mentioned above. The key layout is then determined by analyzing the service application. The key layout is displayed on the liquid crystal display of the portable telephone set 2.
- The invention provides a portable telephone set wherein a countermeasure can be taken against a bug of software by a user without the necessity for voluntary recovery by a maker. The portable telephone set has a hardware configuration which allows a user of the portable telephone set to perform an operation of downloading a modification portion of software from the outside such as a network and rewriting the software with the same. In this instance, the rewriting is performed not for the entire memory (ROM) space of the portable telephone set, but the software is divided and disposed into different blocks of the memory (ROM) space and the rewriting is performed in a unit of a block.
- An apparatus and method used in a home-zone location registering process in a portable telephone which allows a different charging rate to be applied to a subscriber based on whether the call connection is made within the home-zone area. According to the method, the portable radio telephone stores the home-zone list therein and determines whether the portable telephone deviates from the home zone area, then the portable radio telephone automatically performs the location registration process when the deviation is detected.
- An adapter in which a portable telephone having a socket including terminals connected to electric terminals therein is receivable includes an adapter body having a concave portion in which the portable telephone is receivable, a connector provided in the adapter body so as to be exposed to the concave portion, the connector having terminals connected to predetermined electric units including at least an antenna, the connector being connectable the socket of the portable telephone, and a clamping mechanism for clamping the portable telephone received in the concave portion of the adapter body in a state where the connector is connected to the socket of the portable telephone so that the terminals of the connector are in contact with the terminals of the socket of the portable telephone.
