- The invention relates to a method and a transcription system (T) for transcribing dictations, in which a dictation file (5) is converted into a text file (8), and subsequently the text file (8) is compared with the dictation file (5). To increase the speed for the subsequent correction, provision is made that during transcription of the dictation file (5) a confidence value is generated for a transcribed text passage of the text file (8), and a comparison of the text file (8) with the dictation file (5) takes place only in respect of those text passages for which the confidence value of the text passage is below a confidence limit, i.e. a text passage recognized as possibly defective is present.
- A portable digital voice recorder is interfaced for data communication with a personal computer. The personal computer is connected by a data communication network with other devices such as other personal computers, a central dictation system, and/or a voice mail system. Voice data files previously generated by dictating information into the portable recorder are stored in the portable recorder and then uploaded to the personal computer. The voice data files include header data associated with the voice data files. The personal computer reads the header data and automatically forwards the voice data file to one or more of the other devices on the basis of information contained in the header data.
- Disclosed is a dynamically configurable threat scanning machine management system that utilizes a network to connect threat scanning machines with a central control computer. The central control computer can transmit, among other things, operational software and threat profiles to the threat scanning machines, while the threat scanning machines can transmit, among other things, images and performance data to the central computer. The threat scanning machine management system can be arranged in a hierarchical manner, which enables threat scanning machines at various locations to be connected into regional, national or international control centers for greater management efficiency. The network may be wireless and the control computer may be portable, enabling a supervisor to remotely manage the threat scanning machines while remaining mobile about the facility, or elsewhere. Additionally, the threat scanning machine management system can be accessed and monitored remotely from a web browser via secure Internet access.
- A self coordinated machine network is established by two or more machines in proximity with each other via a wired or wireless network infrastructure. The machines are configured to establish an ad hoc network between themselves for sharing information related to their common applications. New machines that come into proximity of the network infrastructure are configured to join an existing ad hoc network. Machines that power down or are removed from proximity of the network infrastructure are eliminated from the ad hoc network. Communications between the constituent machines of the ad hoc network allow the machines to self coordinate the network and redundantly store information pertaining to the common and disparate applications of the various machines that comprise the self coordinated machine network.
