Technical Examples
- A high volume printing assembly includes an array of printers. Each printer includes a housing. Locking fee project beyond the housing on one side. Apertures corresponding to the fee are located on an opposing side of the housing to receive the feet of a neighboring printer. The printers are daisy-chained together by means of serial data-in and data-out ports. A control station is provided to monitor and control the array. The array may be disposed as a column of printers mounted upon a suitable table or alternatively it can also be provided as a row of printers stacked side by side upon a suitable mounting frame. In a preferred embodiment each of the printers is of a high-speed type that includes a pagewidth printhead.
- Printers, such as drop-on-demand printers with piezoelectric printheads, having Internet as well as Intranet connectivity capabilities are provided, resulting in numerous service, maintenance and cost efficiencies.
- A printer driver recognizes, of a plurality of printers on a network, a printer included in a common category. Only basic settings for printing (the paper size, the print direction, etc.) are made on the printers included in the same category by the printer driver. So that, the printers on the network can be easily used without a waste of space of a storage device included in the system.
- In a network comprising printers and print servers which retain queues of print jobs, a user is able to survey and view selected portions of the network, either by enumerating printers to be queried directly, or by enumerating servers. By providing substantially simultaneous "views" of printers and queues in servers, problems within a large network can be readily isolated.
- It is an object to allow a plurality of printers to print a document without disordering a page order. When a plurality of printers are allowed to print the document, print data is transferred to the plurality of printers so as not to disorder the page order.
