- Application services gateways that execute electronic application programs/services allows the application programs/services to be managed and administered out of a network rather than locally. The application services gateways are elements in a services delivery system that execute application programs/services that control or otherwise interact with systems and devices of a home or business such as a heating and cooling system or a security system. The application services gateways have a LAN connection to a communication gateway that in turn communicates over a WAN to a remote services gateway. The remote services gateway channels data from a remote service platform to provide application programs/services and management services over the WAN to the communications gateway where it is then channeled to the application services gateways. The installation and management of the application programs/services residing and/or being executed at the local site on the application services gateways relieves the consumer of such responsibilities.
- An electronic services modeling tool for composite e-services and functionality, where a composite e-service is an e-service defined by composing other basic or composite e-services. Implementation of an e-service for composing e-services into a composite e-service. Characteristics of composite e-services and of their differences with respect to traditional workflow-like composition. Definition of a composition model suitable for e-services. Description of a prototype implementation, showing an approach that can be reused for implementing composition on top of any E-Services Platform. Providing composition functionality as an e-service, to be used not only by the owner of the ESP, but also by any designer-user. A specific type of e-service, meta-service, called Composition E-Service, allows the definition, execution, management, and monitoring of composite e-services. A language used for specifying the composition. Architecture and implementation of the CES to deliver the service on top of an ESP.
- The present invention relates to a telecommunications system and method for providing a plurality of services, the services providing control for communication via the telecommunications system. The system comprises a switching point for triggering one or more services of said plurality of services for a communication. Each of the services may reserve at least one control characteristic. A service manager connected to the switching point is arranged to determine if at least two services can be provided for the communication based on information relating to control characteristics of said at least two services. A new service can be started only if the control characteristics it requires are not reserved by a previously invoked service. A service manager for use in a telecommunication system for managing the plurality of services is also disclosed.
- The invention provides consumers with the services of multiple cards or accounts while allowing consumers to carry a single card, transponder, code and/or other access device. Because the card may access combined services such as financial transaction services and transportation services, the system may facilitate charging the financial account for the transportation services. The system may allow the consumer to use loyalty points or geographic based loyalty points to pay for the transportation services. The system may also limit the use of certain loyalty points based upon the geographic area for certain transportation services in certain geographic areas.
- An Access System can provide identity management and/or access management services. Examples of access management services include authentication and authorization services. In some implementations, users of an Access System want to use the authorization services of the Access System but do not want to use the authentication services of the Access System. The present invention allows some or all of the resources protected by the Access System to use the authentication services of the Access System and some or all of the resources protected by the Access System to use external authentication services.
