- In correcting the sound field, the loudspeakers 6FL to 6WF are sounded by the noise. The attenuation factors of the inter-band attenuators ATF11 to ATFki for adjusting gains of the band-pass filters BPF11 to BPFki to the frequency in respective channels are corrected based on detection results of the reproduced sounds of the loudspeakers 6FL to 6WF. Then, the attenuation factors of the channel-to-channel attenuators ATG1 to ATG5 are corrected based on the detection results of the reproduced sounds of the loudspeakers 6FL to 6WF. Then, the delay times of the delay circuits DLY1 to DLY5 are corrected based on the detection results of the reproduced sounds of the loudspeakers 6FL to 6WF. Then, the attenuation factor of the channel-to-channel attenuator ATGk is corrected based on the detection result of the reproduced sound of the loudspeaker 6WF as the subwoofer, whereby the levels of the reproduced sounds reproduced by the loudspeakers 6FL to 6WF are adjusted to be made flat over the audio frequency band.
- A remote-controlled audio system comprises sets of loudspeakers (14A-14D) connected to power amplifier units (22A-22D) in an audio distribution unit (10) to which several audio sources, such as a compact disc unit, a tape deck, etc., are connected. Remote units (34) are provided, one in each zone with a set of loudspeakers. The loudspeakers and the remote unit are connected to the audio distribution unit by four wires whereby audio and data signals and power are transmitted to the loudspeakers and the remote unit, respectively. Each power amplifier unit may have a pair of power amplifiers, each connected to one of the loudspeakers in the set, referenced to a first ground (1) and a second ground (2), respectively. The second ground (2) is maintained at a prescribed voltage relative to the first ground. The remote unit (34A) is connected between the "ground" terminals of the two loudspeakers of the set, i.e. those connected via the speaker cables to the first and second grounds in the audio distribution unit. The remote unit has a transmitter unit which transmits control signals to the audio distribution unit via the "ground" cables. In the audio distribution unit, an interface circuit connected between the grounds conveys the control signals to a control device which adjusts the settings of the audio distribution unit in dependence thereupon. The remote units may receive power from the audio distribution unit via the transmission channel to supply their internal components.
- A method for processing and transducing audio signals. An audio system has a first audio signal and a second audio signal that have amplitudes. A method for processing the audio signals includes dividing the first audio signal into a first spectral band signal and a second spectral band signal; scaling the first spectral band signal by a first scaling factor proportional to the amplitude of the second audio signal; and scaling the first spectral band signal by a second scaling factor to create a second signal portion. Other portions of the disclosure include application of the signal processing method to multichannel audio systems, and to audio systems having different combinations of directional loudspeakers, full range loudspeakers, and limited range loudspeakers.
- The invention relates to so-called panel loudspeakers (11) working according to the multiresonance principle. Said loudspeakers are generally formed by a core layer (13) and at least one outer layer (14.o, 14.u). The outer layers (14.o, 14.u) are connected to the core layer (13). A periphery is also provided (12) enclosing the panel loudspeaker (11) at a lateral distance (A). The panel loudspeaker is connected to the periphery (12) by means of connecting elements (17, 17'). Although good reproduction results can be obtained in the mid and high audio frequencies with the panel loudspeakers (11) described above, undesired large panel surfaces are known to be required for good low frequency reproduction. When such panel surfaces are not used, the lowest panel resonances ensuring bass reproduction are shifted towards the midfrequencies. Hence, the invention aims at providing a panel loudspeaker (11) exhibiting improved acoustic reproduction in the low frequency range despite a relatively smaller panel surface. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the connecting elements (17 17') are subjected to mechanical tension when they are connected to the periphery (12) resulting in supplementary particularly low frequency drum resonances in addition to the existing low frequency panel resonances, which can be modulated by the tension in the connecting elements (17, 17').
- An antenna array that uses at least two passive antennas and one active antenna disposed above a ground plane, but electrically isolated from the ground plane, and a respective resonant strip positioned beneath each passive antenna. The passive antenna elements are positioned about the active element, and each of the at least two passive antenna elements is individually set to a reflective or a transmissive mode to change the characteristics of an input/output beam pattern of the antenna apparatus.
