  1. A sighting system is integrated with video gathering and recording capabilities. A video camera unit may be coupled in front of or behind a weapon's sights. In another embodiment, the weapon's sights are electronically generated by the video camera. Where a zoom lens is provided, software automatically adjusts the electronically generated sights based on any optical changes. A separate or integrated memory unit may also be provided. A range finder may be provided to supply range-to-target data.
  2. A lighting system includes a suspended light fixture, a skin, and a plurality of alignment sights. The suspended light fixture includes a supporting spine. The skin partially surrounds the spine. The skin is supported by the spine at at least three points including an adjustable point. The skin is substantially more flexible than the spine. The spine has a plurality of suspension points that define a longitudinal axis. The plurality of alignment sights are connected to the skin along an axis defining a leveling axis. The leveling axis is substantially parallel to and offset from the longitudinal axis.
  3. A positively aligning, quick mount assembly for interfacing an auxiliary sighting device such as an optical scope with a firearm is disclosed. The positive-aligning quick mount device includes a sight receiver that is attached to a firearm utilizing a firearm interface and includes a mounting ring that supports the sighting device and is configured to be received and retained by the sight receiver. It is further designed to allow quick and easy mounting, removal and re-mounting of auxiliary sights on any firearm while eliminating the need to re-adjust or zero the scope when it is replaced in its mounted position on the firearm.
  4. Optical devices with folded optical paths to reduce size of optical devices and optical elements in the optical devices. The folded optical paths operate by manipulating optical polarization of light. Exemplary optical switches and variable optical attenuators are described.
  5. Optical systems are provided. A representative optical system includes an optical transceiver with an optical source and an optical receiver. The system also includes an optical waveguide. At least one of the optical source and the optical receiver is optically coupled to an intermediate portion of the optical waveguide. The optical source provides optical signals for propagation by the optical waveguide, and the optical receiver receives optical signals propagated by the optical waveguide. Methods, optical transceivers and other systems also are provided.
