Technical Examples
- A compact fare paying device has a housing for receiving a monetary member and at least one verifier unit in the housing for determining the authenticity of the monetary member. A storage device such as a safe can receive the monetary member or a return device can return it to the user. A control unit can compute the monetary value of the monetary member and compare the monetary value to a stored required fare value. If the monetary value is greater than the fare value, the monetary member can then be translated to the return device. If the monetary value is less than the stored fare value, the monetary member is stored for a predetermined time period to enable the user to deposit the required fare. If it is not deposited within the predetermined time period, the temporarily stored monetary value is translated to the return device.
- A vibrating conveyor 1 for conveying coins using vibration, comprising: a conveyor plate 11 to be loaded with coins to convey the coins loaded thereon by relatively moving the coins; vibration generator means 20 for vibrating the conveyor plate 11; or the vibrating conveyor 1 further comprising a coin storage section 13 disposed around the conveyor plate 11 for storing the coins to be conveyed in conjunction with the conveyor plate 11, wherein the boundary between the conveyor plate 11 and the coin storage section 13 is formed in a wave shape of a specified period. The vibrating conveyor can handle a large amount of coins with a simple design.
- A coin processing system for processing a plurality of coins of mixed denominations comprises a rotatable disc for imparting motion to the plurality of coins, a sensor for differentiating between valid and invalid coins, a stationary sorting head, a diverter and a controller. The stationary sorting head has a lower surface generally parallel to and spaced slightly away from the rotatable disc. The lower surface forms a queuing channel and a plurality of exit channels for sorting and discharging coins of particular denominations. The queuing channel has a first segment for receiving coins and a second segment for moving the coins past the sensor and is configured to move coins at a faster rate along the second segment for increasing the spacing between adjacent coins. The diverter is disposed along the second segment beyond the sensor and is moveable between a first position for permitting coins to proceed to the plurality of exit channels and a second position for diverting coins to a reject region. The controller moves the diverter from the first position to the second position when the sensor detects an invalid coin.
