- The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for starting or stopping a motor-driven motor vehicle having motor functions (1) and motor-independent vehicle functions (5) which can be used independently of the type of drive and independently of the type of motor start or motor stop. For a start operation or a stop operation, at least one command to the motor functions (1) to start or stop the motor (15) of the motor vehicle is imparted by the vehicle functions (5) via an interface (10). At least one status datum as to the motor (15) and/or the motor functions (1) is transmitted by the motor functions (1) via the interface (10) to the vehicle functions.
- An electric-arc welding process for assembling parts that are components of a motor vehicle, in which a consumable wire is used that is subjected to a cyclic mechanical movement. The wire is moved closer to and then further away from the parts to be welded so as to create a short arc between the end of the consumable wire and at least one of the parts to be joined. In this way, molten metal is deposited in order to progressively produce a welded joint between the parts.
- In a motor vehicle comprising a vehicle body having a support structure for supporting a main drive unit and at least one support block disposed on the support structure by which the main drive unit is supported in the vehicle body, each support block comprises bottom and top parts which are movable relative to each other and provided with an operating mechanism for causing such movement for lowering the drive unit when the motor vehicle is involved in a collision.
- System for evaluating the traffic environment of a motor vehicle and for influencing the speed of the motor vehicle in its own traffic lane, comprising an electronic control unit, which is connected to a signal transmitter that produces a signal characteristic of the desired speed of the motor vehicle, a signal transmitter that produces a signal characteristic of the yaw of the motor vehicle about its vertical axis, a signal transmitter that produces a signal, which is characteristic of the articles situated, in the direction of travel of the motor vehicle, in front of the motor vehicle in terms of their spacing and orientation relative to the motor vehicle and which is the speed relative to the speed of the system motor vehicle and/or the spacing relative to the system motor vehicle and/or the angular offset or the cross track distance relative to the vehicle longitudinal axis of the system motor vehicle, and a signal transmitter that produces a signal characteristic of the speed of at least one wheel of the motor vehicle, and which is connected to at least one control device, which influences the performance of the motor vehicle, for supplying said device with output signals derived from the performance of the motor vehicle situated in front of the system motor vehicle, whereby in the electronic control unit a quantity that bears a relationship to the curvature of the traffic lane of the system motor vehicle is supplied as an input signal in parallel to a plurality of timing elements, which have different time constants, and the output signals of the timing elements and the input signal are compared with one another.
- A hitch alignment apparatus is provided for mounting on a motor vehicle and a trailer for facilitating the hitching of a motor vehicle to a trailer. The vehicle and trailer mounted hitch alignment apparatus includes a motor-vehicle-mounted trailer alignment unit for attachment to a rear portion of the motor vehicle and includes a trailer-mounted motor vehicle alignment unit for attachment to the front portion of the trailer. When the motor-vehicle-mounted trailer alignment unit and the trailer-mounted motor vehicle alignment unit are in proper registration, the vehicle-mounted trailer ball and the trailer-mounted ball receiver are in alignment and registration to facilitate the interconnection therebetween. Each of the motor-vehicle-mounted trailer alignment unit and the trailer-mounted motor vehicle alignment unit includes respective adjustable-length riser portions that facilitate efficient adjustment of and use of the alignment apparatus.
