- The invention relates to performing server initiated database synchronisation between a mail server 10 and a client on a mobile computing device 70. Both the mail server and the client are provided with a copy of a user mailbox 40, 40A. When a message for that user is received at the mail server, this is stored in their server mailbox. The mail server then initiates a link with the client and prompts it to dial into the mail server in order to synchronise its local copy of the mailbox with the server copy. In this manner new mail is automatically transferred to the client device upon receipt at the mail server.

- In order to distribute coupons to a consumer computer a link is established with a coupon server, in response to which the coupon server transmits a file containing a list of participating retail outlets. - A method and system for providing address change notification in an e-mail forwarding system by providing a pre-generated e-mail address change notification to recipients selected during registration in the e-mail forwarding system. The e-mail forwarding system operating when a message is received at an e-mail forwarding computer, the message identifying the first disfavored e-mail address. The e-mail forwarding computer parses the first e-mail address from the message to determine if there is a second preferred forwarding e-mail address associated with the first e-mail address. If there is a second e-mail address associated with the first e-mail address, the e-mail forwarding computer sends the e-mail message to a third computer associated with the second e-mail address.
- A printing device has multiple finishing functions and multiple e-mail accounts on a mail server in a network. Correspondence between finishing functions set by a user and e-mail accounts are stored in a printing device. An e-mail sent to each e-mail account undergoes a finishing function based on the stored correspondence in order to be printed.
