  1. A telescoping steering column assembly of the present invention includes a lower jacket disposed in telescoping relationship within an upper jacket along a longitudinal axes, and a brake supported by the upper jacket for frictional engagement with the lower jacket. The brake presents an inclined surface sloping longitudinally of the jackets. A cam device of the assembly is rotatable into and out of engagement with the inclined surface. The cam device includes a lever to move the brake upwardly, to engage the lower jacket with the upper jacket, and downwardly, to disengage the jackets in different modes of operation of the assembly.

The present invention relates to a method for processing an address of a short message service center in a WCDMA network, including: a load centralization confirmation step where an operation control unit receives short message processing states from each short message service center, confirms load centralization states of each short message service center, and generates an operation message; a path setup step where a mobile switching center receives a short message from a mobile station, and sets up a transmission path of the short message according to the operation message; and an optimal transmission step where the mobile switching center transmits the short message from the mobile station to the corresponding short message service center through the transmission path according to the result of the path setup step. When a lot of messages are centralized to a specific short message service center due to call habits of subscribers, some subscribers of the short message service center arc distributed to another short message service center, and thus service center reception ability is predictable. It is also possible to actively cope with civil appeals and troubles.

  4. A method for calculating employee compensation includes associating sets of attributes with pay categories. An employee's shifts are split into sub-shifts, responsive to work parameters. A set of attributes is determined for each sub-shift. Each set of attributes is a unique combination of attributes. Sets of attributes are associated with pay categories through a pay category mapping matrix which maps each set of attributes to one or more pay categories. The pay categories with which the set of attributes associated with a particular subshift is associated are then determined responsive to the mapping. A total compensation for an employee is then determined for a pay period by adding the amounts determined for each subshift of the pay period. A compensation qualifier can be associated with each pay category, such that determining compensation for an employee for the sub-shift responsive to the assigned pay category, is in turn responsive to the employee's base pay and the compensation qualifier. One or more pay categories can be tracked. For each tracked pay category, an overflow threshold is specified that is a maximum amount of time that can be accrued in the pay category. A second pay category is specified to receive any amount of time originally assigned to the tracked pay category which is in excess over the threshold. This can be done over various time periods, such as per day or per week.

A circuit for isolating a short-circuited integrated circuit (IC) formed on the surface of a semiconductor wafer from other ICs formed on the wafer that are interconnected with the short-circuited IC includes control circuitry within the short-circuited IC for sensing the short circuit. The control circuitry may sense the short circuit in a variety of ways, including sensing excessive current drawn by the short-circuited IC, and sensing an abnormally low or high voltage within the short-circuited IC. Switching circuitry also within the short-circuited IC selectively isolates the short-circuited IC from the other ICs on the wafer in response to the control circuitry sensing the short circuit. As a result, if the wafer is under probe test, for example, testing can continue uninterrupted on the other ICs while the short-circuited IC is isolated.
