Technical Examples
  1. Some embodiments of the present invention relate to a portable charcoal grill where, in the closed position, charcoal may be supplied through an opened chimney lid located at the top of the grill, and lit paper or other kindling material may be inserted through an opening to an ignition area located at the bottom of the grill in order to ignite the charcoal. The chimney effect created by the shape and directionality of the closed portable grill may aid in heating and igniting the charcoal. Once the charcoal is at the proper burning point, the portable grill may be safely opened up and a large grilling area may be available for cooking. The legs, which can be used as carrying handles for the grill, may be secured in place by a unique joint that has two or more distinct positions.
  2. A gas grilling apparatus includes a cart, a grill housing attached to the cart, and a grill and a main grill burner contained in the grill housing. An auxiliary burner unit is also attached to the cart, and the auxiliary burner unit is located, or is placeable at a level below the main grill burner. The auxiliary burner unit may be made height-adjustable, and enhances the ability of the user to view or remove the contents of a pot or pan having high side walls.
  3. A portable outdoor cooker particularly adapted for boats and convertible for grill, griddle, steam and roast cooking. A cooker unit having an open top and a propane gas log interiorly positioned and attached to a propane supply is provided. Various racks and pans and covers are mounted on the cooker providing the ability to grill, griddle, steam or roast. The cooker has removable or retractable legs for mounting on boat rails.
  4. A cooking apparatus capable of uniformly heating and cooking food laid on a grill unit using thermal energy radiated from a heating unit, includes a cabinet opened at a top surface thereof to provide an opening over which the food to be cooked is laid. A grill unit is seated in the opening of the cabinet so as to support the food over the opening. A heating unit is installed in the cabinet at a position offset from an effective grill part of the grill unit so that a front surface of the heating unit faces the grill unit to transmit thermal energy to the grill unit supporting the food laid thereon. The cooking apparatus also includes a heat blocking member to block a part of the thermal energy transmitted to an edge of the grill unit, thus allowing the thermal energy to be uniformly transmitted to the food laid on the grill unit. Thus, the cooking apparatus of the present invention allows food laid close to the edge and food laid on a central portion of the grill unit to be uniformly heated and cooked.
  5. An improved grill brush for cleaning grill grates and a cleaning system including a grill grate specifically adapted for use with the disclosed grill brush includes a head portion and a handle portion. A plurality of metallic bristles is mounted to and extends from at least one surface of the head. Some of the bristles are made of a first metal and others of the bristles are made of a second metal. In one embodiment, one metal is stiffer than the other metal, the stiffer bristles are shorter than the more flexible bristles, and the bristles are arranged so as to form rows of short, stiff bristles parallel to rows of long, flexible bristles. In this embodiment, the length and configuration of the bristles is generally specified for the grill grate with which the brush is intended to be used to facilitate cleaning the top and side portions of the grill grate. In another embodiment, the bristles are fabricated of at least two different materials and are of the same length.
