  1. Disclosed is an Internet FAX apparatus which, after receiving an Internet address from a certain destination, can communicate with the same destination in later transmission or during communication by connecting to a LAN and switching to an Internet FAX mode requiring no communication charge. An Internet facsimile apparatus on the receiving side transmits its Internet facsimile function and Internet address on an NSF signal in a standard protocol of G3 facsimile transmission and/or transmits its telephone number, Internet facsimile function, and Internet address on TSI and NSS signals in the standard protocol of G3 facsimile communication. The Internet facsimile apparatus registers an Internet facsimile function and Internet address of a partner apparatus as destination data. The Internet facsimile apparatus communicates with the partner apparatus by using the Internet address in the destination data in later transmission or by disconnecting ordinary facsimile mode communication and switching to the Internet FAX mode.
  2. The present invention includes a system and method for using Local Area Network (LAN) switch information of an internet protocol phone to determine the location of the internet protocol phone. The internet protocol phone communicates with a server and receives a dynamic internet protocol address. The internet protocol phone further communicates with a second server to receive LAN switch information for the internet protocol phone. The internet protocol phone transmits the dynamic internet protocol address and LAN switch information to a phone management module. The phone management module queries a LAN switch in order to gather further LAN switch information for the internet protocol phone. The phone management module transmits the dynamic internet protocol address and LAN switch information to a third party in order to more accurately determine the location of a user using the internet protocol phone.
  3. A medical testing system and method is disclosed in which an Internet device is used to obtain test data from a patient automatically via sensor devices. The test program in the Internet device is downloaded from a web site via the Internet. After the test program has obtained the test data, the test data is uploaded to the web site server. At the server, the data is processed and the processed data is downloaded via the Internet to the patient's Internet device and/or to other Internet devices.
  4. A method for entering an Internet site address including a plurality of Internet sub-addresses for wirelessly accessing an Internet website using a keypad of a mobile communication terminal is disclosed. According to the method, at least one Internet sub-address is assigned to at least one key of a plurality of keys arranged on the keypad in accordance with a predetermined sequence and the assigned Internet sub-address associated with the corresponding key is stored into a memory unit. If a key on the keypad is selected by a user of the mobile communication terminal, it is determined the number or time duration the key is depressed, the stored Internet sub-address corresponding to the number or time of depressing the key is retrieved from the memory unit, and transferred to a display unit for displaying the Internet site address.
  5. Internet access is provided over a digital cable television system using Internet protocol (IP) over MPEG digital video. Simultaneous Internet access and TV viewing is provided by an IP over MPEG-2 video system with channel tracking. Whenever a video channel change is detected, the viewer's Internet connection is routed from one video channel to another video channel so that the Internet connection is dynamically routed and tracks the channel changes made by the viewer. Additionally, if there is no available data carrying capacity in the video channel selected by the viewer (a "busy" condition), the Internet connection is routed to an out-of-band frequency. The Internet connection tracks the channel changes made by the viewer using a single tuner/digital MPEG decoder in the CATV settop box.
