- An electronic ballast circuit for a handheld fluorescent task lamp, comprising a self-starting electronic driver circuit operated by a power supply and operable to start and run at least first and second compact fluorescent bulbs from a single output; first and second receptacles for connecting the first and second bulbs to the single output; and a bulb accommodation circuit in the electronic driver circuit that enables operation of the electronic ballast circuit with either starter or non-starter type fluorescent bulbs and with either one or both bulbs.
- A handheld fluorescent task lamp comprising a housing assembly having a housing and a tubular lens body enclosing compact fluorescent bulbs, an elongated spine configured for slidingly supporting the lens body, and a resilient bulkhead for cushioning the compact fluorescent bulbs in the lens body; an electronic ballast circuit within the housing comprising a power supply, a self-starting electronic driver circuit operable to start and run at least first and second CFL bulbs; a bulb accommodation circuit that enables operation of the electronic ballast circuit with either starter type or non-starter type and regardless whether one or both CFL bulbs are connected to the driver circuit; and an illumination assembly, wherein the CFL bulbs are oriented with respect to each other such that an enhanced forward emission field is provided.
- A method for driving a flash memory and flash memory apparatus thereof are provided. The flash memory apparatus comprises a flash memory controller and a flash memory. At first, a voltage level of the parameter definition pin is detected by the flash memory controller to obtain the basic configuration of the flash memory when the flash memory controller is in a reset mode. Next, a fundamental access operation is performed on the flash memory by the flash memory controller according to the basic configuration. Then, a detail configuration is read from a specific data block of the flash memory. At last, the flash memory is driven according to the basic configuration and the detail configuration of the flash memory.
- A method and apparatus for controlling a flash that automatically selects between normal flash mode and redeye reduction flash mode is disclosed. The apparatus measures the light in the scene, and based on this measurement, chooses between the redeye reduction flash mode and the normal flash mode. The apparatus may also measure the distance to the object and use this information to help chooses which flash mode to use.
- When reading out flash ROM data from an external interface circuit, a clock for a CPU is stopped only in a period during which the flash ROM is read out and fetch data at the CPU side are held in a fetch bus interface; thereafter, an address of the data that are desired to be read out for the flash ROM is output and the data are taken in. When rewriting into the flash ROM, a fetch target from the CPU is switched to a tuning RAM that stores a copy of the data for a rewrite region, and during that period, data rewrite of the flash ROM is carried out. Reading and writing of the flash ROM data from outside is made possible while the CPU is kept in operation.
