  1. An isometric/pacing exercise device that is adaptable to exercise apparatuses to produce a signal to the user to exert an isometric muscular force against the force provided by the exercise apparatus. The signal can be either aural or visual. The isometric/pacing exercise device provides a convenient means for a user to isometrically exercise their muscles on existing exercise apparatuses which do not presently have such a signaling device. The device is adaptable to most exercise apparatuses.

  3. Systems and methods for providing two-way communication between an exercise device and a computer device. A computer device and an exercise device employ different protocol formats and communicate through a translator device, which includes a microcontroller specifically designed to translate data or signals deliverable by different communication protocols. The exercise device, the computer device, or a user at either the exercise or computer device may initiate the communication. The enabled communication allows for such features as the performance of an automatic diagnostic analysis on the exercise device, the programming of internal parameters of the exercise device upon identifying specific components, the monitoring of any measurable parameter of the user, the providing of instructional direction and/or encouragement relating to a particular exercise routine, the controlling of the amount of resistance experienced by the user of the exercise device, and other interactions facilitated by the translator device.
  4. An exercise apparatus has a support frame and an exercise arm assembly pivotally linked to the support frame for swinging movement in at least one fixed arc about a first pivot axis, the exercise arm assembly including at least one rigid, elongate exercise arm. A flexible handle assembly is secured to the exercise arm, the handle assembly having a hand grip for gripping by a user, and a flexible line secured to the hand grip at one end and adjustably secured to the exercise arm to vary the extension of the line from the exercise arm. Upper body exercises are performed by moving the hand grip portion in different paths as permitted by the flexible line.
  5. Disclosed herein is an exercise step and an air-cushioning leg for the exercise step. The exercise step (1) includes a plate-shaped panel (10), and air-cushioning legs (30). Each of the air-cushioning legs is provided under the panel to support the panel, and absorbs a load applied to the panel by air cushioning effect. The exercise step has a high air cushioning effect, thus protecting a user's knees from injury, allowing the user to exercise in comfort and safety, and minimizing noise generated during a cushioning operation. Further, the exercise step prevents the panel from being deformed due to a load applied to the panel.
