Technical Examples
  1. A sales rack for accommodating goods such as foods presented in open containers, such as fruits, vegetables, etc. The sales rack has a base and a goods support surface that is adjustable relative to the base. The goods support surface is equipped with at least one holder element which can be optionally affixed, and over which the goods, i.e. the containers can pass when they are put into place, to fix the goods in place in the slanted position of the goods support surface.
  2. In order to distribute coupons to a consumer computer a link is established with a coupon server, in response to which the coupon server transmits a file containing a list of participating retail outlets. In response to the consumer's selection of a retail outlet, the coupon server transmits a file containing the inventory of goods offered for sale by the selected retail outlet and data representative of the physical layout of the selected retail outlet indicating the aisle location of the goods. The inventory is displayed by the consumer computer such that each item of goods is individually selectable. The consumer may thus enter a shopping list by selecting one or more items of goods he or she intends to purchase at the selected retail outlet. In response to the selection of goods, the coupon server transmits to the consumer computer a file containing electronic coupons corresponding to one or more of the selected goods and a file containing data identifying the aisle location in the selected retail outlet of the goods selected by the consumer.
  3. A machine readable code (e.g., digital watermark or bar code) conveyed with objects is used in establishing links to associated electronic resources, such as web pages. The object can be physical (e.g., a magazine page) or electronic (e.g., music data). The associated electronic resource can be a web site from which goods or services (e.g., music) may be offered for sale.
  4. A method and apparatus for encoding transactions for goods and services using an e-receipt is provided. A consumer and a merchant conduct a commercial transaction using a distributed data processing system. An electronic receipt is recorded on a removable storage medium at a first data processing system. The electronic receipt contains data concerning the commercial transaction. The removable storage medium is then read at a second data processing system. After validating the electronic receipt, another commercial transaction or another stage of the original commercial transaction may be performed. The electronic receipt may be validated for a warranty claim on goods or services subject to the purchase transaction, and the removable storage medium may be an optical card or a smart card, either of which is able to store thousands of e-receipts and other electronic documents related to a commercial transaction, with the integrity of each guaranteed through digital signature, digital certificate, etc.
  5. A conveyor system is disclosed, having a width adjustment unit capable of adjusting a width according to the size of goods to transfer semiprocessed goods in the process line, which includes a transfer unit for transferring goods; conveyor plates provided at both sides of the transfer unit, and guiding the goods by supporting both sides of the goods; and the width adjustment unit including a wire connected with the conveyor plates, a driving pulley operating the wire, and a driven connected with the wire.
