- Fruit items are positioned between vertical pins located in the calyx and stem hole of said fruit item, thereby securing the fruit item by a compressive force through its core. A core tube surrounding the upper pin descends to meet the lower pin, thereby completely piercing the fruit item and isolating its core inside the tube. A cushioned ram pushes the edible portion of the fruit item down over the core tube, through a cassette of radial knives, creating a plurality of wedges that fall immediately into an enzyme bath. The bath seals freshness into the fruit item's cell structure by preventing contact with oxygen. The solid core is ejected and the edible outside portion of the fruit item is not touched or bruised by mechanical handling.
- Embodiments of subcombination and the fruit extraction device of the present invention provide for fruit juice extraction where synchronized and concentric elements press a fruit, such as an orange, without crushing the peel, by this avoiding the dispersion of acids from the peel, favoring the retention of juice having lower acid levels. Embodiments of the subcombination and the fruit extraction device of which it is a portion shear the peel in multiple slivers, at the same time compressing the fruit. In an exemplary embodiment, a subcombination comprises a fixed and a mobile peeler, each having radially extending blades that form a space within which a fruit may be positioned for juice extraction, and a perforating filtering tube within the fixed peeler, and a piston adapted to pass through the lumen of the perforating filtering tube to cyclically clean it of the residues of a compressed fruit prior to extraction of the next fruit.
- The present invention makes reference to a method of cultivation to improve the fruit crop and is characterised in that it consists of applying pressure, mainly to the base of the floral cluster, making it in the period between the opening of the first flowers and the end of the fattening of the last fruit in order, to thus obtain bigger fruit. The stated pressure must, by preference, be made a short time after the appearance of the first flowers.
- A new and distinct cultivar of FragariaĆananassa is disclosed. 'Yuval' grows from September and produces fruit starting in November and lasting until the following summer. The production of the fruit beginning in November (Northern Hemisphere, latitude 30-33 degrees) is two months earlier than short day varieties of Fragaria species. The fruit of 'Yuval' is characterized by a unique, uniform color, as well as a very desirable taste, texture, shape and size.
- A new and distinct short-day strawberry cultivar is provided. Attractive medium-sized generally conical to cordiform and short wedge-shaped fruit is formed in good yields. The fruit flesh is firm, sweet and flavorful. The fruit is glossy bright red on the outside and medium red on the inside. Resistance to Fusarium Wilt is displayed. The fruiting pattern and yield are similar to the 'Sweet Charlie' (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 8,729) and 'Strawberry Festival' (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 14,739) cultivars and earlier than the 'Camarosa' cultivar (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 8,708). A highly flavorable fruit Brix/Acid balance is displayed.
