Technical Examples
  1. A console concentrator is provided as an integral part of a modular computer system to provide access to consoles in the components of the system in a secure and flexible manner. For example, the console concentrator can provide a common point of access to respective consoles of a plurality of blades in blade server system. It can also provide access to consoles of, for example, a switch processor in the blade server system.
  2. A chassis of modular construction for commercial vehicles has a front vehicle subframe and a rear vehicle subframe connected thereto, an individual wheel suspension having a spring and/or shock-absorber strut and also an upper transverse link and a lower transverse link formed on the front vehicle subframe on each side of the vehicle. The front vehicle subframe is composed of two side consoles assigned in each case to one side of the vehicle, an upper crossmember connecting the two side consoles to each other at the top and a lower crossmember connecting the two side consoles to each other at the bottom. Each side console is connected to the rear vehicle subframe. One of the upper transverse links is mounted on each side console and one of the spring and/or shock-absorber struts is supported thereon. The two lower transverse links are mounted on the lower crossmember. Each side console has two lower ends one behind the other in the vehicle longitudinal direction, the lower crossmember connecting the four lower ends of the two side consoles to one another.
  3. A method of, and apparatus for, automatically determining an electric charge-related characteristic or derived parameter of particles in a dispersion or of a cell wall, comprises having a particle-containing dispersion provided in a cell. The dispersion is illuminated with light from a light source and detecting from a detection volume light scattered from the particles. An electric field is applied to the dispersion at a first frequency of change of direction of the electric field and an electric field is subsequently applied to the dispersion at a second frequency of change of direction of the electric field. First signals detected from the scattered light when the first frequency electric field is applied are used to provide first values related to the velocity distribution of the particles. A second velocity related signal or value derived from scattered light during the time that the second frequency electric field is applied is used to modify the velocity distribution related values to produce a modified particle velocity-related distribution; and the first frequency is low enough to obtain an acceptable resolution of the distribution of particle velocity-related values.
  4. A system and method for providing full-duplex data communications between an electric power distribution station and a power consumer via the power distribution line providing electric power is provided. A first information transmitter, coupled to the power distribution circuit, provides first information signals concurrently with the power signal to the power consumer via the power distribution line. A first information receiver, coupled to a power consumer device powered by the electrical power signal, receives the first information signals via the electric power distribution line. A second information transmitter coupled to the power consumer device provides second information signals concurrently with the electrical power signal. A second information receiver, coupled to the power distribution circuit, receives the second information signals via the electric power distribution line. The information signals transmitted on the power distribution line can be transmitted at a frequency lower than the frequency of the transmitted power signal.
  5. A solid-state image pickup device includes photoelectric converters in row-column matrix configuration, VCCDs, one for each column, a color filter disposed above each converter to form a color filter array including layouts each including n rows, and a drive circuit for conducting readout treating (m*n) rows as one set, and selecting from the sets a plurality of units symmetrically distributed. Electric charge is read from the plural units. A first readout operation reads electric charge from a first group of rows having asymmetric distribution. A j-row transfer operation transfers the electric charge for j rows. A second readout operation reads electric charge from a second group of rows having asymmetric distribution at positions to which the electric charges are transferred by the j-row transfer operation. The electric charges are added in the VCCDs.
