- A disc player 10 which moves a disc stopper 55 controlling the movement of a drawn disc 1 and clamps and chucks the disc on a turntable, wherein the disc stopper is designed so that is it positioned in a positioning position where the disc and the turntable are positioned concentric with each other and in a retracted position where the disc stopper is spaced from the disc clamped and chucked to a turntable.

- A toroidal type continuously variable transmission, in which an input disc and an output disc are arranged on the common axis with being opposed to each other in the rotatable condition, and in which the rolling member is arranged between the input disc and the output disc, so as to transmit a torque between said input disc and said output disc through said rolling member, by applying the clamping force to said input disc and said output disc in said axial direction, characterized by comprising a clamping force controller for controlling the clamping force to be applied to said input disc and said output disc based on a physical quantity relevant to heat stress of said rolling member.
- A disc cartridge includes a cartridge body having a disc storage portion, a chucking opening and a head opening. The disc storage portion has a disc window and a bottom and stores a disc, having first and second sides, therein so that the disc is rotatable in the disc storage portion and that the first side of the disc is exposed. The chucking opening is formed on the bottom of the disc storage portion so as to get the disc chucked externally. The head opening is also formed on the bottom of the disc storage portion so as to allow a head, which reads and/or writes a signal from/on the second side of the disc, to access the second side of the disc. A shutter is supported to, and movable with respect to, the cartridge body so as to expose or cover at least the head opening.
