- The present invention relates to an AGC circuit, a AGC circuit gain control method, and a program for the AGC circuit gain control method, and may be applied to IC recorders, for example, as a portable recording/reproducing device, in order to ameliorate problems of listening to talk, music and the like during playback from IC recorders. In the invention, a signal level L1cyc is detected in units of the period of an input signal, and a recovery time constant r is switched on the basis of a decision as to the signal level L1cyc based on an average shift Lavg of the signal level L1cyc.
- This invention is a system that monitors many performance parameters and many aircraft operational parameters, and broadcasts this information along with aircraft identification, audio, video, global positioning and altitude data, to a world wide two-way rf network. This information is monitored and recorded at a remote, centralized location. At this location, this information is combined with archived data, ATC data, weather data, topological data, map data, and manufacturers' data. Analysis of this combined data allows identification of problems and generation of advisories. Six types of advisories are generated: maintenance, safety of flight, flight efficiency, flight separation, safe to fly and safe to take off. In the event of a crash the remotely recorded data provides an instant indication of the cause of the crash as well as where the crashed plane can be found. Use of this invention allows replacement of the current, on-board flight data recorders thus saving costs and weight. Having the recorded data at a remote site eliminates the need to search for flight data recorders. Other advantages are back-up for ATC radar position data, better control of aircraft separation, improved flight efficiency, and allowing use of simpler and lower power radar.
- A method and system for delivering data over a network to a large number of clients, which may be suitable for building large-scale Video-on-Demand (VOD) systems. In current VOD systems, the client may suffer from a long latency before starting to receive requested data that is capable of providing sufficient interactive functions, or the reverse, without significantly increasing the network load. The method utilizes two groups of data streams, one responsible for minimizing latency while the other provides the required interactive functions. In the anti-latency data group, uniform, or non-uniform or hierarchical staggered stream intervals may be used. The system may have a relatively small startup latency while users may enjoy most of the interactive functions that are typical of video recorders including fast-forward, forward-jump, and so on. Furthermore, the system can maintain the number of data streams, and therefore the bandwidth, required.

- Method of monitoring water conservation in an apartment complex by positioning infrared cameras with motion sensors in the clean outs of the waste water discharge lines leading to public sewer systems wherein each camera image is displayed on a computer screen and the motion sensors, which start and stop the digital video recorders (DVR), are adjusted by circumscribing the area of the camera image and the pixel sensitivity setting for motion sensors activation, which triggers the DVR recordings. In this arrangement the intermittent or constant flow of waste water is detected in real time indicating normal or abnormal flow of waste water, respectively. Further, an infrared camera may be positioned on the apartment complex side of the water meter to determine in real time if water is being supplied to the complex and the waste water flow out is little or none then loss of water outside the plumbing system from overflowing commodes, tubs, lavatories or broken pipe is indicated.
