Technical Examples
  1. A platform cooling system usable in a turbine engine together with an airfoil for preheating cooling fluids before the cooling fluids enter a cooling system in the airfoil in a turbine engine. The platform cooling system includes cooling channels in either the ID or OD platforms, or both, of the airfoil. The channels transfer heat to the cooling fluids flowing through the platform cooling system and thereby heat the cooling fluids. The preheated cooling fluids are particularly useful with cooling composite ceramic airfoils, which are susceptible to damage from large temperature gradients developed between combustion gases outside the airfoil and cooling fluids inside the airfoil. The platform cooling system may be combined with an airfoil cooling system to create a serial cooling system in which cooling fluids may enter the platform and flow through the platform and airfoil without being supplemented with additional cooling fluids along the flow path.
  2. The present invention relates to methods of chemically generating gas in aqueous fluids utilized in the drilling and completion of wells such as drilling fluids, spacer fluids, and aqueous acid solutions. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of preventing the formation of fractures in a subterranean formation during a drilling operation. In other embodiments, the present invention provides methods of separating a first fluid and a second fluid in a subterranean formation; methods of forming lightweight well treatment fluids; methods of enhancing the permeability of a subterranean zone; lightweight drilling fluids; lightweight spacer fluids; foamed aqueous acidic well treatment fluids; and methods of making foamed aqueous and aqueous acidic well treatment fluids.
  3. An image distortion correction method is provided which is capable of correcting for distortion of a projected image by designating an arbitrary correction point by using a simple and easy operation without independently providing a display device and/or a pointing device. The distortion correction method includes a first step of displaying first to eighth correction function indicating marks corresponding to first to eighth correction functions to make corrections to first to fourth correction points on a screen, a second step of displaying the first correction function indicating mark corresponding to the first correction function selected by an operator on the screen in a highlighted manner, a third step of moving the first correction point to be corrected by the selected first correction function and to be displayed on the screen according to an instruction of the operator and of calculating a correction parameter corresponding to a moved distance, and a fourth step of correcting for distortion of projected image based on the correction parameter.
  4. A semiconductor memory comprises, a data memory having a plurality of memory regions to store data at addresses specified, a code memory having the same address space as the data memory to store error correction codes, an error correction code control circuit including an error correction code generation circuit, a syndrome generation circuit and an error correction code decoding circuit, generating an error correction code for correcting data before the data is written back into the memory region, and comparing the generated error correction code with corresponding error correction code, thereby to determine whether the data is erroneous, and an error correction code function invalidity control circuit invalidating an error correction function of the error correction code control circuit when the memory regions are accessed first after power application.
  5. Subterranean fluids, and more particularly, subterranean fluids comprising a hydraulic cement in an invert emulsion, and methods of using such fluids in subterranean operations, are provided. An example of these methods is a method of cementing a well bore. Another example of these methods is a method of reducing the cost to cement a well bore in a subterranean formation.
