- This computational data processing system comprises an assembly of networked computers (12, . . . 22) in each of which is stored at least one computational application, and a machine (10) for storing computational data which is linked to the network and in communication with the computers, at least one of the computers (12) operating as master computer and at least some of the other computers (14, . . . 22) operating as slave computer. At least one of the computers comprises, stored in memory an algorithm for configuring the other computers of the network as slave computers and an executable master application for managing the tasks of each slave computer (14, . . . 22) as a function of their availability for the assignment, to each of them, of computational tasks and of corresponding computational data which are stored in the storage machine (10).
- Embodiments of the present invention relate to a method and system for remotely backing-up computer memories utilizing a global communications network. An embodiment of the present invention utilizes the INTERNET to access a plurality of computers. The plurality of computers is in electrical communication with a central office. In one embodiment of the invention, a computer located in the central office administers a memory back-up procedure at a customer's location. The central office computer may also assess whether the memory back-up procedure has been successfully completed, and if not, send an electronic notification to a predetermined system or individual that a failure has occurred, and to automatically provide repairs.
- Circuits, methods, and apparatus that provide integrated circuits having memories with multiple sizes. The memories may be dedicated embedded memories, or they may be distributed memories formed using memories or lookup tables in logic elements or other appropriate circuits. Configuration bits not needed by logic elements used for distributed memories can be used for data storage as well. These various memories may be combined or otherwise linked or chained together in different combinations to form larger memories of varying sizes.
- A distributed collaborative computer system that supports application sharing is provided that comprises a plurality of server computers interconnected via a high-speed link. Client computers can connect to any available server computer and start or join a conference hosted on either the server computer to which the client computer is connected or any other server in the system. As a result, the system and method of the present invention allow application sharing among an arbitrary number of client computers.
- Apparatus and method for configuring and monitoring multiple computers coupled to a network. A management computer includes software for monitoring multiple monitored computers such as server computers that are networked together on a network. The management computer includes an aggregator component that accumulates information regarding the multiple monitored computers. A video display displays a result from the aggregator component. Each of the monitored computers implement a schema for responding to queries by the aggregator component of the management computer by providing an access point to information about the monitored computer. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention the schema is implemented using WMI functionality of Windows 2000® which is a specific implementation of the Web-Based Enterprise Management protocol (WBEM).
