Technical Examples
  1. A system for creating screen savers based on video images is provided. An object image that may move around in a video image is separated from backgrounds. An MPEG-4 file of the video image is created and stored in a computer. The MPEG-4 file is uploaded from the computer to a server connected to the computer through a network. The server detects motions of the object image in the MPEG-4 file, creates a screen saver based on the detected motions, and stores the screen saver. The computer may download the screen saver stored in the server and install the screen saver on the computer, and displays the video image as the screen saver on a screen.
  2. In a notebook type personal computer, the operation mode of this personal computer is switched into a low power consumption mode even while a screen saver function is actuated. A display apparatus used in such a notebook type personal computer is arranged by a display screen for displaying thereon image data sent from a main apparatus; memory means for storing thereinto screen protecting image data; and display control means for displaying the screen protecting image data stored in the memory means on the display screen under such a condition that the main apparatus is not actually operated for a predetermined time period.
  3. A financial transactions processing system includes a teller display screen and a customer display screen, both of which can be coupled to a teller computer. The teller computer can be operably connected to a bank computer. The teller computer provides the teller display screen with a first set of information to be displayed on the teller display screen, and supplies the customer display screen with a second set of information to be displayed on the customer display screen, such that the customer display screen and the teller display screen display different sets of information.
  4. An electronic control unit for a vehicle-mounted engine system has a computer and a single program memory. The program memory stores a plurality of functionally finely classified programs, which includes programs to be used in common between a normal engine control mode and a fuel evaporation leak diagnosis mode. The plurality of programs is associated, as a reference table, with the plurality of different control modes by separating programs required for the respective control modes. The computer sequentially executes only programs associated with the designated control mode, when any of the control modes is designated.
  5. A computer gaming system and method of operation thereof are provided that both drastically reduce the cost of gaming stations and allow contemporaneous access to multiple game programs from a single gaming station. The computer gaming system of the present invention allows for transparent modifications and upgrades to the gaming programs by executing gaming programs on a server/host computer connected to a plurality of client/terminal computers via communication pathways. Each client/terminal computer comprises a client/terminal program that allows input and output streams of the gaming program executed on the server/host computer to be separated and redirected to the client/terminal computers. Since the gaming programs are executed entirely on the server/host computer, with only wagering input and display output operations being executed on the client/terminal computers, the cost of the hardware and software required for each client/terminal computer is greatly reduced. A patron of a client/terminal computer can access any of the gaming programs executed on the server/host computer. Modifications and upgrades of the gaming programs only need to be performed on the server/host computer. By using a stereo head-mounted display together with a joystick input device and wireless communication pathways, the present invention allows a patron to participate in a mobile gaming environment.
