  1. A location based communications system uses a physical location system (PLS) or relative position system to determine a communication unit's location in two or three dimensions, and is configured for radiotelephonic calls through intermediary communications satellite systems, cellular systems or other mobile systems and land line systems, based on the location G# of the called telephone or on a caller-defined estimated area or space termed a G zone number GZ# surrounding the desired callee. The system is particularly advantageous for mobile communications, and may be interfaced with conventional stationary telephones, cellular phones and other communications devices. Multiple telephone units may be simultaneously contacted with messages in user-defined languages. Emergency features enable the location based communication system to locate and notify the nearest and/or best equipped party for assistance in the event of an emergency, issue warnings to all phones in a specific area of any size, calculate vehicle velocities and control traffic.
  2. There is provided herein a system and method for generating music on multiple cell phones or other mobile computing devices, wherein two or more users (to include a user and a computer) acting together may create a joint musical work. The instant methods enable multiple users to create music in a synchronized fashion by using their cell phones or other portable electronic devices as musical instruments. The instant invention has been made possible because of the enhanced processor power within mobile electronic devices and has the potential to create added value in such devices by assisting users in exploiting multimedia features of their cell phones.
  3. Detecting a physical location change of a mobile communications device may initiate a process to initiate, or cancel, forwarding of future incoming communications to the mobile communications device. Forwarding information for a mobile communications device may be accessed and modified using an interface that communicates using an Internet Protocol network.
  4. Since the Mobile IP is defined under the assumption that a mobile node roams between networks conforming to the same communications protocols, mobile communications between IPv4 and IPv6 are not possible. Further, a translation of the location registration messages also requires translating the format between different protocol layers. To solve this problem, a mobile proxy apparatus 2 is provided between a home network 1a and a foreign network 1b governed by different communications protocols. The mobile proxy apparatus 2 has a DNS-ALG function, a translator function and a Mobile IP function, and, by combining these functions, performs address translation and format translation on Mobile IP messages and user packets. The MN4 has Mobile IPv4 and Mobile IPv6 functions and executes communication suitable for the communications protocol governing the network to which it moves.
  5. A method of generating an authentication for updating a mobile communications device's 40 location to a second communications device 60 is disclosed herein. The mobile communications device 40 is registered to a home network 30 comprising a proxy server but roams to a foreign network 40 with a different network number. The method proposes that, at the time of performing the location update, the second communications device and the proxy server each provides an input to a hash function to generate a shared secret; and using the shared secret as the authentication when the proxy server or the mobile communications device transmits the location update to the second communications device.
