- The method and apparatus improves call transactions in a communication system having an automatic call distribution system. A personality profile of each agent of a plurality of agents in the system is determined. A respective personality profile is one of a plurality of predetermined personality profile types. The determined personality profile type for respective agents are stored as personality profile records in a database. A personality profile of a caller is then determined, the personality profile of the caller being one of the plurality of personality profile types. A priority hierarchy is provided for matching a personality profile types of the caller to personality profile types of the agents. The personality profile type of the caller is then compared to the personality profile type of the agents according to this priority hierarchy. An agent is selected from the plurality of agents based on the comparison of the personality profile types.
- A method and system for restoring device personality after failure. Specifically, the present invention discloses a method and system for automated personality transfer in a wireless enabled handheld device. In one embodiment, the present invention automatically extracts personality information that is unique and critical to the proper functionality of an electronic device. A personality file containing the personality information is created and stored on the electronic device. The personality file can be then transferred to another electronic device for archival purposes. Thereafter, should the personality information be lost due to device failure, embodiments of the present invention provide for restoring the electronic device back to its original operating state by importing the personality information back into the electronic device.

A radio network controller (RNC) monitors a directly observable L-2 parameter, and determines a without explicit L2-L1 signaling a threshold violation by the L-1 parameter for accordingly triggering a status change of the radio link. Namely, a L-2 radio resource management algorithm prompts the radio terminal and the RNC to perform a radio resource management action whenever the L-1 parameter violates a L-1 threshold. Such an action could be directly downgrading or upgrading the transmission rate on the radio link, or a radio link reconfiguration. The L-1 parameter may be the radio block error rate r, and the L-2 parameter may be the PDU retransmission rate R.
- A control unit 102 of a mobile telephone 10 sets a radio wave mode to ON or OFF, and stores the setting of the radio wave mode internally. ON shows that radio wave transmission is permitted, and OFF shows that radio wave transmission is prohibited. When the stored radio wave mode setting is OFF, radio wave transmission is suppressed even if input such as that for mail transmission is received. By setting the radio wave mode to OFF, functions that do not require radio wave transmission can be used, even in places where radio wave transmission is prohibited.
