  1. The invention relates to a method for selecting a sound algorithm for processing an audio signal. The audio signal is analyzed and the type of audio signal is ascertained based on the analysis. The audio signal is classified as a music signal or another signal, and different sound algorithms are used for the further processing and subsequent output of the audio signal.
  2. An apparatus for delaying an audio signal in conformance with the format of the audio signal. An input device is receptive to an audio signal having one of a plurality of formats. A processing device coupled to the input device is operable to provide a delay in the audio signal corresponding to the format of the audio signal. The delayed audio signal is output through an output device. An audio format detection circuit is operable to detect the number of edge transitions within a known period in a processed audio signal and thereby determine the format of the audio signal by comparing a detected edge transition count to model data representative of the plurality of formats.
  3. A signal processing apparatus which is capable of reducing the occurrence of noise at editing points without the need to decode an encoded audio signal when editing the encoded audio signal. A recording/reproduction section reproduces an audio signal sequence including an audio signal encoded according to normalization information for controlling amplitude of the audio signal, and the normalization information. A normalization information converter changes the normalization information of the reproduced audio signal sequence. At least one of a first normalization information corresponding to a first encoded audio signal of a first audio signal sequence as the reproduced audio signal sequence and a second normalization information corresponding to a second encoded audio signal of a second audio signal sequence as the reproduced audio signal sequence are changed by the normalization information converter, such that the value of the first normalization information and the value of the second normalization information become equal.
  4. A technique for determining a tuning frequency of an audio receiver includes interrupting a received radio frequency (RF) signal at an input of the audio receiver. Next, a modulated audio signal is injected into the input of the audio receiver. Then, it is determined whether the demodulated audio signal is present at an output of the audio receiver. If not, the frequency of the modulated audio signal is changed until the demodulated audio signal is detected at the output of the audio receiver.
  5. Herein disclosed is an audio signal processing apparatus comprising first audio signal processing means for processing an audio signal within a first process time; second audio signal processing means for processing the audio signal within a second process time which is different from the first process time; audio signal delaying means for delaying the audio signal in response to each of the first process time of the first audio signal processing means and the second process time of the second audio signal processing means; selecting means for selectively receiving the audio signals respectively processed by the first and second audio signal processing means; and audio signal outputting means for selectively outputting the audio signal selectively received by the selecting means and the audio signal delayed by the audio signal delaying means.
