- A self-cleansing media and systems incorporating the same, for a rotating biological contactor, are described. The media includes a disk having cones extending perpendicularly from the surface thereof. Two or more disks lock together, axially about a rotating central shaft, by connecting cones spaced throughout the disk surface having a socket at their base to receive the top of the corresponding connecting cone on the adjacent disk. The cones, by virtue of their length, space the disks a desired distance. The disks include disk segments that can link to one another along either straight and/or curved portions thereof. The geometry of the media provides free passage of the air and water during each revolution, and while the base disk slices through the air and water, the projecting cones or cylinders enter the air and water perpendicular to the direction of rotation and are washed and cleansed during each rotation.
- A method and apparatus for information labeling and control includes central station equipment which combines a program signal with content labels which separately and continuously identify the audio, video, and data content of the program signal, and user station equipment which generates a local content label identifying program material which is acceptable to the user. By comparing the two labels the user station equipment can block or substitute alternative audio, video, or data for offensive portions of a program signal received through a transmission or stored for playback on various media such as video tapes, audio tapes, CDs, computer disks, optical storage media, and video game cartridges. Exemplary embodiments of the invention also relate to a method and apparatus for creating the local content label.
- An apparatus for rewritably labeling data media, such as compact disks CDs, DVDs, or other forms of media. The media may be programmed within a player/recorder device adapted for programming the state of the electronic ink material on the media. Labels on the media may be rewritten at any time without the need to remove a prior label. A small handheld label printing device is also described for writing the labels. Numerous other display embodiments particularly suited to electronic ink, and various embodiments of LED array control.
- A video system comprises at least one media player, at least one display, wherein the at least one display is capable of receiving a first video signal and a first audio signal corresponding to a first program from the at least one media player, an assembly housing for supporting the at least one media player and the at least one display, and a wireless transmitter on the at least one display for wirelessly transmitting at least one of the first video signal and the first audio signal.
- A video signal processing apparatus and a computer system integrated with the video signal processing apparatus are disclosed. The video signal processing apparatus has a tuner, a video processor, a non-interlaced signal processing unit, a microprocessor, and a computer signal converter. In the video signal processing apparatus, the display can be instantly turned on and the video signal can be recorded in the storage media of a computer, and the video signal recorded in the storage media can be displayed on the display. While watching the video signal on the display, a user can execute applications in the computer simultaneously. The video signal processing apparatus further provides picture-in-picture feature by adding another set of tuner and video processor. The video signal processing apparatus can be integrated with a display or a computer, and can also be used as an external-enclosure video signal processing apparatus.
