  1. A method is described for making an aluminum alloy foil suitable for application to fins used in heat exchangers. The method comprises providing an aluminum alloy composition containing about 0.27% to about 0.55% by weight of iron, about 0.06% to about 0.55% by weight of silicon and optionally up to about 0.20% by weight of copper; continuously casting a coiled strip from the molten aluminum alloy; cold rolling the continuously cast coil to a final gauge of about 0.076 mm to about 0.152 mm and partially annealing the aluminum alloy sheet at a temperature below about 260° C., with a maximum overheat of about 10° C. to anneal the aluminum alloy foil substantially without any recrystallization.
  2. A process for producing high stability crystalline anodic aluminum oxide includes anodizing an anodic foil, hydrating the foil, and forming a barrier oxide layer on the foil. Anodizing the anodic foil produces nano-porous amorphous oxides which can then be converted to a crystalline precursor material by hydrating the foil. Next, an oxide layer formation step is utilized to form a barrier oxide layer on the surface of the anodized and hydrated foil. The resulting anodic oxides have very low levels of defects, voids and tensile stresses and have rise times as low as about 1 second to about 3 seconds after exposure of the formed samples to boiling water for 2 hours.
  3. A process for depositing pure platinum on a substrate is disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, the process comprises applying a solution consisting of Pt(acetylacetonate)2 and ethanol or acetone onto a substrate and wrapping at least a portion of the substrate with aluminum foil. The process further comprises heating the substrate wrapped with the aluminum foil to about 300° C. at a rate of about 10-25° C. per minute and then holding at about 300° C. for about 1 hour, wherein the Pt(acetylacetonate)2 decomposes to deposit pure platinum on the substrate.
  4. The present invention relates to a laminate for battery encasement comprising aluminum foil and an inner layer, wherein a resin film layer that comprises an aminated phenol polymer (A), a trivalent chromium compound (B), and a phosphorus compound (C) lies between the aluminum foil and the inner layer. The laminate for battery encasement of the present invention is excellent in adhesiveness, gas impermeability, etc., and therefore can be suitably used as a material for encasing a secondary battery, particularly a lithium ion polymer secondary battery.
  5. A foil is formed on a given substrate, then, peeled off of the substrate and floated on the water surface charged in a tank. The surface level of the water is decreased to contact the foil to a folding plate of a jug substrate and thus, fold the foil at the folding plate in two. The two surfaces of the foil opposing each other are laminated along a foil forming-supporting plate within a laminating region. The thus laminated foil is dried and annealed except the area in the vicinity of the foil forming-supporting plate, and then, cut along the folding plate, a foil acceptor and a supporting plate, to provide a stripping foil which can be supported by itself.
